Area Fire Marshals and Surrounding Cities Enact Burn Restrictions

Spokane, WALocal News

Fire Marshals from the Spokane Metro Area enacted countywide burn restrictions on June 30, 2025, in response to increased wildfire risks despite recent rain and cooler temperatures. The restrictions prohibit unauthorized open burning and recreational fires to protect the community from human-caused wildfires. Fire Marshal Lance Dahl stated that these measures are essential for the safety of homes and wildlands. While unauthorized fires are banned, residents may use manufactured outdoor devices in compliance with manufacturer guidelines. The Spokane Valley Fire Department urges residents to stay alert and practice fire safety this season.

Continued warm and dry weather has intensified the risk of wildfires, highlighting the need for these restrictions. Those who fail to comply with the order may face misdemeanor charges. Residents are encouraged to report any signs of fire immediately and follow local safety guidelines.
