Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane plans to celebrate the completion of renovated sport courts at Underhill Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 3, 2025. Local officials, including Mayor Brown and Council President Wilkerson, will speak at the event, which will also feature youth basketball players from the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association. The renovation included two basketball courts, two pickleball courts, and enhancements to sidewalks and lighting, all completed on budget and schedule. Funding sources included the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, a matching grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, and support from local businesses. If the Parks & Recreation levy is approved by voters in November, every city sport court would undergo a full renovation.

Director Garrett Jones highlighted community feedback that called for better-maintained parks, making these upgrades essential for local engagement. The renovation reflects a commitment to creating functional and safe gathering spaces for all ages. Spokane Parks and Recreation manages nearly 120 properties, offering diverse recreational opportunities to enhance community health and quality of life.
