Pedestrian and Bike Improvement Projects Begin Next Week

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane's City Council launches two pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects on June 30 to enhance local infrastructure and safety. The Lincoln St. project, running from Boone Ave. to Sinto Ave. , will feature buffered bike lanes, wider sidewalks, and a new traffic signal, with work expected to last until September.

Motorists will face detours, and the intersections at Mallon Ave. and Broadway Ave. may close for two weeks at different times. Meanwhile, the Maxwell Ave. project aims to improve connectivity in the West Central Neighborhood with new sidewalks and buffered bike lanes, funded by Washington’s Climate Commitment Act.

This initiative aligns with climate action goals and is set to finish by October. Local residential access will remain open, ensuring businesses can continue to operate. Residents are encouraged to support affected local businesses during the construction periods. Detailed obstruction information is available on Spokane's construction webpage.
