Water System Project Will Impact Northwest Intersection

Spokane will initiate a significant upgrade to its water system starting July 7, impacting traffic at the intersection of Francis Ave. and Assembly St. The $3. 25 million infrastructure project will enhance water reliability and accommodate future growth in the area. The first phase begins at the junction of Francis Ave.

/Hwy 291, Assembly St. , and Driscoll Blvd. , then progresses west to Rifle Club Rd. Motorists should expect temporary traffic signals and road closures, necessitating detours. Access to Dwight Merkel Complex will remain open via Rowan Ave.

A noise variance permits work from 6 a. m. to 6 p. m. , Monday through Saturday.

Future phases will include additional road closures on N. Royal Dr. , W. Lyons Ave. , W.

Woodside Ave. , and N. Rifle Club Rd. The project aims to improve essential infrastructure in northwest Spokane and is scheduled for completion in November 2025.
