Area Fire Marshals and Surrounding Cities Enact Burn Restrictions

Spokane, WALocal News

Effective June 30, 2025, fire marshals from Spokane Valley and surrounding areas initiated burn restrictions due to heightened fire risks. Unauthorized open burning and recreational fires are prohibited to help prevent human-caused wildfires. Fire Marshal Lance Dahl highlighted the necessity of these restrictions for protecting community safety, especially with warm temperatures forecasted. The Spokane Valley Fire Department urges residents to practice fire safety as dry conditions persist. Smoke exposure can adversely affect respiratory health, particularly in younger and older individuals.

Residents must adhere to the guidelines, which allow only portable outdoor devices used as per manufacturer instructions. Designated campfires may be permitted in certain parks and campgrounds. Violators of the burn restrictions may face misdemeanor charges.
