Flags Lowered for Former Secretary of State Ralph Munro

Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown announced that flags at City facilities will be lowered to half-staff in honor of former Secretary of State Ralph Munro. This decision coincides with Governor Bob Ferguson’s directive for state and U. S. flags at all state agency facilities. Munro, who served as Secretary of State, passed away on March 20, 2025.

Mayor Brown praised Munro as a statesman and exemplary public servant, highlighting her fond memories of working with him. A memorial service will take place on June 28 at 2 p. m. in the Washington State Capitol Legislative Building Rotunda. The lowering of flags symbolizes the city's respect for Munro's legacy and contributions to Washington.

This action also fosters community reflection on the values of public service. Munro’s influence on state politics remains significant, marking a notable chapter in Washington’s history.
