Pedestrian and Bike Improvement Projects Begin Next Week

Spokane, WALocal News

Starting June 30, the City of Spokane will launch two key projects to improve pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure on Lincoln St. and Maxwell Ave. The Lincoln St. project will create buffered bike lanes and widened sidewalks, with work expected to continue through September. Motorists will be detoured from Lincoln St.

between Boone Ave. and Sinto Ave. , facing potential delays and slower speeds. In contrast, the Maxwell Ave. project will enhance connectivity to local parks and community centers and is scheduled to be completed by October.

Funding for these improvements on Maxwell Ave. comes from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, which aims to reduce climate pollution and improve public health. Local residents will retain access to their homes, and businesses will remain open throughout the construction. Spokane urges drivers to plan for additional travel time and to support local businesses affected by the projects. Current obstruction information can be found on the city's construction webpage.
