Pedestrian and Bike Improvement Projects Begin Next Week

Spokane plans to enhance pedestrian and bicycle safety starting June 30 with two projects on Lincoln St. and Maxwell Ave. The Lincoln St. project will close the road from Boone Ave. to Sinto Ave.

while improving bike lanes and sidewalks, with construction expected to continue through September. Motorists should expect detours and delays, particularly at the intersections with Mallon Ave. and Broadway Ave. , which may close for up to two weeks but not simultaneously. The Maxwell Ave.

project will introduce new sidewalks and buffered bike lanes, improving access to AM Cannon Park and the West Central Community Center. Completion of the Maxwell Ave. enhancements is anticipated by October. Both projects will maintain local residential access and keep businesses open for patrons. The improvements are funded by Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, aimed at reducing climate pollution and improving public health.
