Flags Lowered for Coeur d'Alene Fire Department and Kootenai County Fire and Rescue

Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown ordered all flags at City facilities to be lowered to half-staff in memory of two firefighters killed in an ambush attack in Coeur d’Alene. The incident occurred on June 29, 2025, when the firefighters responded to a brush fire on Canfield Mountain. Alongside the fatalities, one firefighter sustained injuries during the ambush. Mayor Brown conveyed her condolences, stating, “Our hearts are with the community of Coeur d’Alene in the wake of this devastating tragedy. ” She reaffirmed the City of Spokane's support for the grieving families and the community as they face this unimaginable loss.
