Firefighters arrived at the 2900 block of West Thorpe Road, where they found a grass and brush fire burning under one acre in a timbered area. The Spokane Fire Department, supported by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and Spokane County Fire District 10, contained the fire within an hour.

Investigators are treating the fire as suspicious and are seeking information about a dark-colored Ford Ranger seen leaving the area shortly after the fire was reported.
