City Closures Planned for Juneteenth

Spokane City Hall will close on Juneteenth, June 19, a federal holiday that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. Other city entities, including the Spokane Municipal Court and all public library branches, will also observe the holiday by closing. While on-street parking meters and kiosks will not require payment, it is important for drivers to comply with existing time limits and regulations. Essential services, such as garbage, recycling, and food waste collection, will operate on their regular schedules. The Spokane City Council is scheduled to meet on June 23, with sessions broadcast live on CityCable 5 and streamed online.

Spokane 311 will provide customer service support for inquiries on Juneteenth. Riverfront Park attractions, including the Looff Carrousel and Numerica SkyRide, will remain open, alongside city golf courses and splash pads. Residents can find information about upcoming Juneteenth community events on the city’s blog.
