Fast Response Contains Suspicious Brush Fire in Latah Valley

A suspicious brush fire erupted in Latah Valley, Spokane, on June 19, 2025, drawing immediate attention from local firefighters. Battalion 1, already engaged in mutual aid for another wildfire, identified a smoke plume and requested a wildland response. Arriving within ten minutes, crews found a grass and brush fire under an acre in size, quickly mobilizing to contain it. The Spokane Fire Department, along with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and Spokane County Fire District 10, worked in unison to extinguish the flames. Firefighters completed mopping up hot spots just over an hour after arrival.

The fire's cause is currently under investigation and deemed suspicious, as officials seek leads on a dark-colored Ford Ranger observed leaving shortly after the incident.
