Pedestrian and Bike Improvement Projects Begin Next Week

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane plans to launch two pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects on June 30, targeting Lincoln St. and Maxwell Ave. The Lincoln St. project will enhance infrastructure with buffered bike lanes and widened sidewalks, closing sections until September. Traffic detours will be in place, and drivers should prepare for delays, although residential access will be maintained.

The Maxwell Ave. project will connect the West Central Neighborhood to local amenities and is set to conclude in October. Funding for the Maxwell Ave. improvements comes from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act. Both projects aim to boost safety for cyclists and pedestrians while supporting local businesses during construction.

The city urges residents to check the construction webpage for updates on obstructions. These initiatives reflect ongoing efforts to improve urban infrastructure and promote sustainable transport options.
