City Closures Planned for Juneteenth

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane City Hall will close on Juneteenth, June 19, in recognition of the federal holiday that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. Other closures include Spokane Municipal Court, Community Justice Services, and all Spokane Public Library branches. While on-street parking meters and kiosks will not require payments, residents must adhere to time limits and parking rules. Despite the holiday, garbage, recycling, and food waste services will operate as usual. Riverfront Park attractions, such as the Looff Carrousel and Numerica SkyRide, will welcome visitors, and city golf courses will maintain regular operations.

Spokane City Council is scheduled to meet on June 23, with key discussions planned for the agenda. Spokane 311 will provide customer service inquiries via phone and online on Juneteenth. For additional community events celebrating Juneteenth, residents can refer to the city’s blog post.
