Pedestrian and Bike Improvement Projects Begin Next Week

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will start two significant pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects on June 30, enhancing infrastructure along Lincoln St. and Maxwell Ave. The Lincoln St. project, running from Boone Ave. to Sinto Ave.

, will close part of the street until September while introducing buffered bike lanes, wider sidewalks, and a new traffic signal. Traffic delays and detours are expected, with alternate routes advised for motorists. Meanwhile, the Maxwell Ave. project will improve connectivity to community hubs like AM Cannon Park and the West Central Community Center, with completion anticipated in October. Both initiatives are funded in part by Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, which aims to reduce climate pollution and enhance public health.

Local businesses will remain accessible during the construction period, urging community support. Residents should prepare for slower speeds and potential delays as improvements are made. These enhancements reflect Spokane's commitment to sustainable urban development and community safety.
