City Closures Planned for Juneteenth

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane City Hall and several municipal services will close on Juneteenth, June 19, to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. Spokane Municipal Court, Community Justice Services, and all public library branches will also close for the holiday. Although parking meters will not require payment, all parking rules, including time limits, will still apply. Spokane 311 will provide customer service inquiries via phone or online. Garbage, recycling, and food waste services will continue as scheduled, and the Waste-to-Energy facility will remain open.

Spokane City Council is set to meet on June 23 for agenda and legislative sessions, which will be broadcasted live. Riverfront Park attractions and city golf courses will operate normally, with splash pads also open for public use. This holiday reflects a significant moment in U. S. history, marking the end of slavery and promoting community awareness through local events.
