Pedestrian and Bike Improvement Projects Begin Next Week

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will launch two significant pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects on June 30, enhancing infrastructure along Lincoln St. and Maxwell Ave. The Lincoln St. project, running from Boone Ave. to Sinto Ave.

, aims to create buffered bike lanes and widen sidewalks, with an expected completion by September. During this period, motorists will face detours, particularly around Lincoln St. intersections, which may close for up to two weeks. In parallel, the Maxwell Ave. project will upgrade bike lanes and crosswalks between Pettet Dr.

and Walnut St. , facilitating better access to local parks and community centers. Funded by Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, these enhancements aim to reduce climate pollution and improve public health. Local residential access will remain intact, and businesses will be accessible despite construction. Residents are urged to support local businesses impacted by these necessary upgrades.

Both projects signify Spokane's commitment to improving safety for all road users and promoting sustainable transportation options.
