City Closures Planned for Juneteenth
Spokane City Hall and the Spokane Municipal Court will close on Juneteenth, June 19, to honor the federal holiday recognizing the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. All branches of the Spokane Public Library and the Development Services Center will also be closed on this day. On-street parking will be free, but all parking regulations, including time limits, will still apply. Essential services such as garbage and recycling will proceed as usual, ensuring community needs are met. The Spokane City Council has scheduled a meeting for June 23, which will be accessible via CityCable 5 and online streaming.
Spokane 311 will provide customer service for inquiries on Juneteenth. Riverfront Park attractions, including the Looff Carrousel and Numerica SkyRide, will remain open. For more information on Juneteenth community events, residents can refer to the city's blog.
