Construction Begins May 20 on North Bend Way Crosswalk and Curb Ramp Near Dahlgren Park
Construction crews from Westerlund Excavation will begin work on curb ramp and crosswalk improvements near Dahlgren Family Park on May 20, part of the Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon Curb Ramp Project. The project will connect the south side of North Bend Way to the existing RRFB crossing, enhancing accessibility for pedestrians. Daily work will occur from 7 a. m. to 6 p.
m. , with intermittent lane closures on the eastbound lane of North Bend Way expected. The North Bend City Council approved the project on May 6, emphasizing its role in public safety. Improvements include curb and gutter installation, drainage enhancements, and an ADA-compliant curb ramp. While the city anticipates completion by early June, the timeline is contingent upon weather conditions.
Additionally, the SE Tanner Road connection to North Bend Way will face periodic closures for staging. For inquiries, residents can contact Project Engineer Mike Mayen via email.
