North Bends Police Services Decision A Timeline of Events Ahead of the May 6 Vote

Snoqualmie, WALocal News

The North Bend City Council will vote on May 6, 2025, to determine how the city will secure future police services as the contract with Snoqualmie expires. Current options include renewing the contract, switching to the King County Sheriff’s Office, or creating an independent police department. The Center for Public Safety Management (CPSM) estimated that an independent department would cost between $5. 5 million and $6 million annually, excluding capital costs for a new facility. North Bend issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) on March 14, 2025, inviting Snoqualmie and King County to submit bids.

In the RFP scoring, Snoqualmie excelled in cost and written content, while King County performed better in presentation and Q&A. Snoqualmie's proposal also included a 15% administrative charge, which they stated aligns with industry standards. The introduction of two oversight bodies aims to enhance transparency in police service management. The decision made by the council will impact the structure and funding of police services in North Bend.
