Updated Major Disruption Ahead SR 18 to Close in Both Directions at I-90 for 5 Days

Snoqualmie, WALocal News

State Route 18 is set to close completely from May 15 to May 21 to facilitate the construction of a diverging diamond interchange at Interstate 90. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has planned this closure to avoid busy travel weekends surrounding Mother's Day and Memorial Day. Travelers are urged to take alternative routes and account for delays caused by the closure. This decision will prevent 10 consecutive nights of ramp closures, enhancing safety for workers and motorists alike. During the closure, crews will work on drainage installations, roadway paving, and building concrete islands necessary for the new interchange.

Eastbound and westbound I-90 traffic will continue without interruption, but detours will be required for SR 18 traffic. WSDOT will implement a brief lane reduction on SR 18 from May 3 to May 4 to prepare for the extended closure. Real-time traffic updates will be available through the WSDOT app and other platforms.
