A fatal motorcycle collision on SR 203 near Carnation, Washington, occurred on August 26, 2024, resulting in the death of a 55-year-old North Bend man. The motorcyclist was riding a 2022 BMW R1250RT and was traveling in the wrong lane when he collided with a 2003 Dodge Ram pickup truck, driven by a 62-year-old man from Snohomish, who was making a left turn. The impact ejected both the driver and his 17-year-old female passenger from the motorcycle, with the driver tragically pronounced dead at the scene despite wearing a USDOT-approved helmet. The passenger was transported to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. The Washington State Patrol reported that speed and improper passing were primary factors in the incident, which caused significant traffic delays on SR 203 for over three hours.

Fortunately, the pickup truck driver was unharmed in the crash. Authorities have confirmed that no drugs or alcohol were involved, and the investigation is ongoing. Next of kin have been notified regarding the loss of the motorcyclist.
