SR 203 Traffic Shift for Fish Passage Project Begins September 4
A significant traffic shift and speed limit reduction are set to begin on September 4 on State Route 203, located south of Carnation. The Washington State Department of Transportation is undertaking this change as part of a fish barrier removal project aimed at improving fish passage across an unnamed tributary to the Snoqualmie River. To prepare for the work, one lane of SR 203 will be closed from 8 p. m. on September 3 until 5 a.
m. on September 4, during which flaggers will manage traffic flow. The speed limit will be reduced to 25 mph throughout the construction area to prioritize safety for drivers and workers. This traffic configuration and flagging are expected to continue for six months. The overall construction project started last month and is projected to be completed in 2025.
Motorists can access real-time travel information via the WSDOT mobile app or website for updates on the work zone. This initiative reflects the state's commitment to environmental conservation and infrastructure improvement.
