New Vision for Downtown North Bend Property Gains Community Support

Snoqualmie, WALocal News

The City of North Bend is advancing plans to revitalize a key property at 302 W North Bend Way, which has been vacant since its prior use as a gas station and convenience store. With potential environmental contamination concerns, local officials sought community feedback through a survey conducted from July 19 to August 9, 2024, which yielded an impressive 746 responses. Residents proposed a variety of ideas for the site, including the incorporation of a food bank, affordable housing options, and mixed-use commercial developments. Mayor Miller highlighted the significance of these community insights, stating that they bring the city closer to realizing a shared vision for the property. The survey results will guide the redevelopment process to ensure that it meets local needs and aspirations.

Next steps involve working with the Washington State Department of Ecology to determine necessary cleanup measures before moving forward. This initiative reflects North Bend's commitment to sustainable urbanism and enhancing the quality of life for its residents. As plans progress, the City encourages ongoing community engagement to shape the future of this vital downtown space.
