Snoqualmie Police Department Restores School Resource Officer Position

Snoqualmie, WALocal News

The Snoqualmie Police Department has reinstated its School Resource Officer (SRO) position with the Snoqualmie Valley School District, a decision that has been positively received by both the police department and the school community. This role was temporarily paused in September due to staffing challenges, which impacted law enforcement's presence in local schools. Officer Gutwein, who had been on light duty following a work-related injury, is now fully cleared and has resumed his responsibilities. Police Chief Lynch highlighted the essential role that the SRO program plays in ensuring the safety and security of students, staff, and faculty. The department is continuing its recruitment efforts for a lateral police officer to permanently fill the SRO position for the upcoming school years.

This initiative reflects a shared commitment between the police department and the school district to foster a safe and supportive learning environment, providing reassurance to parents and the community regarding student safety. By prioritizing this program, the Snoqualmie Police Department underscores its dedication to the well-being of the youth in the region.
