** Snoqualmie Police Investigate Hoax Threat at Mount Si High School, Collaborate with School Officials

On the morning of October 29, 2024, Snoqualmie Police investigated a reported threat at Mount Si High School after a student discovered a message in the bathroom suggesting a school shooting would occur on Halloween. Officers quickly reviewed surveillance footage to identify students who entered the bathroom around the time the message was written. The investigation revealed that a student authored the note as a prank meant to disrupt Halloween festivities. Although the threat was a hoax, law enforcement emphasized the severe implications of such behavior and stated they would coordinate with the King County Prosecutor to pursue potential criminal charges. Police Chief Brian Lynch highlighted the need for educational initiatives to inform students about the grave consequences of making false threats and encouraged parents to discuss this issue with their children.
