Snoqualmie Welcomes Wildlife-Inspired Light Pole Banners to City Streets

Snoqualmie, WALocal News

Snoqualmie has taken a significant step towards enhancing its public spaces with the introduction of wildlife-themed light pole banners, a collaboration between the City and the Snoqualmie Arts Commission. Created by local artist Susan Hass, these banners feature a variety of animals, including a fox, an owl, a chickadee, and a woodpecker, each rendered in a distinctive relief painting style that adds a tactile dimension to the artwork. This initiative marks a notable milestone for the Snoqualmie Arts Commission, which has not previously engaged the local artist community for such designs. Nicole Wiebe, the Arts Commission Staff Liaison, conveyed her enthusiasm for Hass's colorful submissions, emphasizing the hope that the community will appreciate this new art installation. The banners are designed to rotate with other seasonal installations, typically being updated every 3-4 months, allowing for ongoing artistic engagement.

The commission also organizes events like Chalk the Block and Art off the Rails, further enriching the cultural fabric of Snoqualmie. Additionally, the Snoqualmie Arts Commission is actively seeking new volunteer members, inviting community members to contribute to the local arts scene. This initiative exemplifies the city’s commitment to celebrating local talent and fostering a vibrant community atmosphere.
