Officers from the Snoqualmie-North Bend Police Department responded to reports of a person lying in the roadway and identified a gold Toyota Rav 4 as the suspect vehicle. The driver, who was later apprehended, confessed to being distracted by her cell phone at the time of the accident and fled the scene. Police Chief Brian Lynch emphasized the dangers of distracted driving and the heightened risk it poses to pedestrians, particularly in areas like Cedar Falls Way, known for speeding and aggressive driving complaints. The victim remains in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center, raising further concerns about road safety.
