Mount Si High School Volleyball Team Launches Sneaker Drive Fundraiser

Snoqualmie, WALocal News

The Mount Si High School Volleyball Booster Club is excited to announce a sneaker drive fundraiser aimed at supporting the school's volleyball programs throughout the season. The initiative commenced with their home match on September 16, 2024, and encourages community members to donate gently worn, used, and new athletic shoes. GotSneakers, a social enterprise specializing in sneaker recycling, will compensate the Booster Club based on the number of shoes collected, making the fundraiser a practical way to raise funds without financial outlay from donors. President Amy Walker emphasized the importance of this initiative, noting that many people have extra sneakers they would like to donate instead of discarding them. The program not only generates funds for the volleyball team but also promotes environmental sustainability by keeping sneakers out of landfills.

Head Coach Brady King acknowledged the community's support, which plays a vital role in the program's success. Donations can be made during home matches or by contacting Michael Gibbs, the fundraising lead. The volleyball team is training hard and looks forward to a successful season, bolstered by community engagement through events like the sneaker drive.
