Semi-Truck Collision Closes SR18 for Over Three Hours; DUI Suspected

A rollover collision involving two semi-trucks on SR18 near Raging River led to the closure of the highway for over three hours on September 17, 2024. The incident, which occurred at approximately 3:43 a. m. , involved a 2023 Freightliner Cascadia and a 2021 Kenworth T680, with drivers from Tucson, Arizona, and Pharr, Texas. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and thankfully sustained no injuries during the crash.

The Washington State Patrol reported that DUI may be a contributing factor in the incident, prompting further investigation. The collision resulted in the Freightliner rolling onto its side, blocking both directions of the highway. Emergency services, including Todd’s Towing, were dispatched to the scene to assist in clearing the wreckage. The highway remained closed for three hours and three minutes as authorities worked to restore normal traffic flow. Fortunately, no additional injuries or fatalities were reported, highlighting the importance of safety measures such as seatbelt use.
