First New I-90/SR 18 Interchange Ramps to Open During Busy Week Near Snoqualmie

Snoqualmie, WALocal News

Major changes are coming to the I-90/SR 18 interchange near Snoqualmie, as the first ramps of the new diverging diamond interchange are set to open next week. Starting September 9, the SR 18/Snoqualmie Parkway on-ramp to westbound I-90 will switch to a new configuration, followed by the eastbound I-90 off-ramp to SR 18 on September 12. The Washington State Department of Transportation advises drivers to stay distraction-free and watch for new signage and road markings as these changes take effect. In addition to the ramp openings, contractors will be performing nighttime work that includes installing overhead sign structures, which will lead to various closures and traffic delays. Motorists should expect lane reductions and detours during this period to ensure safety and smooth transitions.

The full project aims to enhance traffic flow and safety at this busy interchange, with completion expected in early 2025. The improvements are particularly relevant for local commuters who frequently travel through this area. The project represents a significant investment in infrastructure that will benefit the community and surrounding regions.
