In a heartfelt tribute, the family of Jared Thomas Fredrick Alery has donated $30,774. 99 for the restoration of Locomotive 125 at the Northwest Railway Museum. Alery, who unexpectedly passed away in August 2023 at the age of 29, was a passionate volunteer dedicated to preserving railway history. Raised in Stevens Point, WI, he earned an Associate’s Degree in Advanced Diesel and Business Management and excelled in his career as a CAT Marine Diesel Technician. His adventures in the Marine Division took him worldwide, but his love for railways remained a constant passion.
The restoration of Locomotive 125, a historic piece of machinery that played a key role in the evolution of rail transport in Washington State, is particularly meaningful. The locomotive, which is the second diesel-electric locomotive to operate on the Northern Pacific Railway, holds significant historical importance. Alery's legacy will live on through this project, allowing future generations to appreciate the impact of railways on society. This donation is a testament to the family's commitment to honoring his memory and contributions to the community.
