Seasonal Closure of King Street to Enhance Pedestrian Experience

Snoqualmie, WALocal News

Beginning August 18, 2024, King Street in downtown Snoqualmie will undergo a seasonal closure following the Snoqualmie Days event held on August 16-17. This closure will take place between Railroad Ave SE/SR 202 and Maple Ave SE, with the goal of creating more pedestrian-friendly spaces in the vicinity of the Northwest Railway Museum Depot and local retail areas. By closing this section of the street, the city aims to reduce conflicts between pedestrians and vehicles, enhancing safety for visitors and residents alike. Temporary street bollards and fencing have been installed in anticipation of this seasonal change. The closure is also designed to accommodate future food truck operations, encouraging a lively atmosphere and community gatherings.

Delivery access will remain available for businesses via Maple Ave SE, ensuring minimal disruption. This initiative reflects the city's commitment to promoting a vibrant and accessible downtown environment. The seasonal closure is expected to last until early fall, providing an inviting space for pedestrians to enjoy the local attractions.
