City Adopts a Police Narcotics K-9 Program to further Community Awareness
The Snoqualmie Police Department has announced the establishment of a Police Narcotics K-9 Program, which aims to tackle illegal drug use and bolster community safety in both Snoqualmie and North Bend. Following unanimous approval from the Snoqualmie City Council, the program is set to enhance law enforcement efforts while also focusing on public education regarding the dangers of drug use. Police Chief Perry Phipps noted that the initiative would not only lead to more narcotics arrests but also serve as a vital resource for community awareness. The funding for this program will be sourced through donations, highlighting the community's involvement and support. An officer will be appointed as the dog handler, who will continue regular patrol duties while overseeing narcotics enforcement.
Additionally, the chosen K-9 will reside with the officer when not on duty, further integrating the program within the community. The police department is actively searching for a suitable dog from organizations specializing in service animals for patrol and narcotic detection. For further inquiries about the program, community members can contact Police Chief Phipps directly.
