Realtor selected for City of Snohomish property sales
The city of Snohomish engaged Windermere as its real estate broker for three years to oversee the sale of municipal properties. The first asset on the market is the former Water Treatment Plant land in Granite Falls, which has been dormant since the city ceased using Pilchuck River water nearly ten years ago. Additionally, the former Visitor Information Center at First and Avenue D will be sold, with the current olive oil store owner expressing interest in acquiring that building. The commission structure for this arrangement is set at 5%, divided equally between Windermere and the buyer’s agent. Councilman David Flynn cast a dissenting vote against the contract, citing concerns about the selection process and the potential sale of historic properties like the 1937 City Hall.
The council's decision allows for flexibility in using other brokers for future sales, although new bids would be required. The proposed Civic Campus project, which aims to consolidate city operations, may influence future property sales. This initiative reflects the city's broader strategy to manage its real estate assets effectively.
