First Street board begins meeting
The newly formed advisory board in Snohomish convened last week to initiate planning for the future of First Street. This group, composed of local business owners and residents, will engage in discussions over the next ten months regarding traffic circulation, parking strategies, and pedestrian requirements. Meetings are scheduled for the third Wednesday of each month at 6 p. m. , with options for both in-person and online participation.
An online public survey has been released, allowing citizens to provide input on the street's design, including suggestions for parking and pedestrian enhancements. Mayor Linda Redmon stated the goal is to create a street that accommodates everyone, emphasizing the need for ADA-compliant sidewalks. The city plans to replace utilities beneath First Street, making this redesign essential. The board will assess public suggestions for feasibility, balancing community desires with practical limitations. This initiative represents a significant step toward revitalizing First Street and enhancing accessibility for all users.
