Former Cubanos Location Set for New Life as Momiji Sushi Izakaya Japanese Ramen

Silver Spring, MDLocal News

Momiji Sushi Izakaya & Japanese Ramen plans to open in the downtown Silver Spring area, occupying the former Cubano’s Restaurant space. This location at 1201 Fidler Lane has been empty since Cubano’s closed permanently last summer after a renovation period. The sizable 4,632-square-foot building was placed on the market last fall for $2. 75 million, with a triple-net lease rate of $14,000 per month. The listing was managed by Jim McGinnis of The Restaurant Broker, highlighting the property’s potential.

Although another Momiji Restaurant exists in D. C. ’s Chinatown, it remains uncertain whether the two locations are connected. Local residents are expressing interest in the new sushi and ramen spot, hoping it revitalizes the area. The opening timeline for Momiji remains unspecified, leaving the community eagerly awaiting updates.

This development signifies a positive shift in local dining options following Cubano's closure.
