16th Street Median at Grace Church Road Closes Monday

Silver Spring, MDLocal News

The Maryland State Highway Administration will permanently close the median at 16th Street and Grace Church Road at 7 a. m. on Monday as part of the Montgomery Hills Safety and Accessibility Project. This closure will restrict traffic on Grace Church Road to right turns only onto 16th Street, while traffic on 16th Street can either turn right onto Grace Church Road or continue straight. The agency stated that the median closure is essential for enhancing safety by eliminating left turns at the intersection.

The Maryland SHA emphasized the need for driver caution in work zones, urging motorists to slow down and remain alert for pedestrians and cyclists. The project aims to improve safety and accessibility in the Montgomery Hills area, which has experienced increased traffic concerns. The SHA appreciates the public's understanding during the ongoing construction efforts. More information is available on the Maryland SHA’s Project Portal. The agency's commitment to safety reflects broader efforts to enhance Maryland's transportation infrastructure.
