Chez Aviole has signed a lease for the space at 7912 Georgia Ave. , which was previously occupied by Port-au-Prince Haitian Cuisine. This new restaurant aims to provide an "ultimate Caribbean experience" with a focus on Haitian cuisine in a casual setting. Although an opening date has not been announced, the liquor license application was approved by the Montgomery County Board of License Commissioners on October 16. Port-au-Prince, which opened in 2018, gained recognition for its outdoor dining and was featured on Eater’s list of top patios.

After closing in May, chef-owner Don Berto continues to market his rum cakes and hot sauce through his online platforms. The establishment of Chez Aviole contributes to the culinary diversity in downtown Silver Spring, an area known for its vibrant dining scene. The local community may benefit from the introduction of authentic Haitian dishes, enhancing cultural representation. This new venture aligns with ongoing trends in the area, where Caribbean cuisine is gaining popularity.
