Outback Steakhouse has permanently closed its Silver Spring location at Ellsworth Place, which opened just over a year ago in April 2024. This restaurant replaced Not Your Average Joe's, which closed in 2020. The 6,000-square-foot establishment featured a mural by Lindsey Jenneman that celebrated local cherry blossoms and Maryland pride, including an Australian Koala. Sullivan, the founder of Outback Steakhouse, has local roots, having attended Montgomery Blair High School in the 1960s. He, along with co-founders, expanded the chain to over 900 restaurants worldwide.
