Chido’s Tex-Mex Grill will celebrate its first anniversary in Downtown Silver Spring on Thursday from 8 p. m. to midnight, featuring food and drink specials along with music from DJ Machado. The restaurant first opened in Laurel in 2016 and launched its Downtown location last October, contributing to the growing culinary diversity in the area. Meanwhile, The Champs Kitchen, a new venture by private chef Keyerra Pitts, opened recently in the Commas food hall at Ellsworth Place.

The eatery has quickly gained traction on Instagram for its signature sauces and catering offerings, focusing on a menu inspired by DMV street food and Caribbean cuisine. Pitts emphasizes an explosion of flavors in her dishes, including tropical rolls and crispy fries loaded with toppings. This lively spot aims to provide a “champion-level” dining experience, appealing to local food enthusiasts. Commas food hall features other vendors, including 6 Skewers and J&J Mex-Taqueria, further enriching the local food landscape.
