Laurie Yankowski, regional marketing director for Peterson Companies, confirmed the lease but did not provide an opening date. Founded by Palestinian-American entrepreneur Ahmad Ashkar, the restaurant chain offers affordable falafel and chicken shawarma, while donating part of its proceeds to the World Food Program USA, having provided over 131,000 meals since 2017. The chain has received accolades, including its seventh consecutive Best of DC award for its falafel. Meanwhile, Insomnia Cookies is also set to open at 8455 Fenton Street, expanding its presence as part of a plan to launch 28 locations across the U.
