This decision follows a decline in sales and customer traffic, driven by inflation and a notable 26 percent drop in cigarette purchases since 2019. Seven & I Holdings, the parent company, reported that while the North American economy is strong, consumers, particularly those in lower income brackets, are spending more cautiously due to persistent inflation and high interest rates. In response, 7-Eleven plans to invest in food offerings, which have become the top sales category, as regional competitors like Royal Farms and Wawa expand nearby. The closure represents roughly three percent of 7-Eleven's total U.
