Maryland Department of Aging Awards 13K to Tamarack Triangle Village
The Maryland Department of Aging awarded a $13,080 grant to Tamarack Triangle Village to support programs for older adults, enabling them to age in place. This funding is part of the Aging in Place Grant Programs for Fiscal Year 2026 and will benefit the approximately 886 residences in the village. A celebratory potluck was held, where community leaders and residents discussed upcoming activities aimed at fostering connections and providing health information. Tamarack Triangle Civic Association President Peter Myo Khin stated that the award acknowledges the organization's commitment to the well-being of older adults in the community. Montgomery County Councilmember Kristin Mink emphasized the grant's importance for promoting healthy aging locally.
Tamarack Triangle Village co-founders Joan Novell and Carol Collado expressed gratitude for the resources to expand services and engage residents. The grant will also support outreach and capacity-building initiatives led by Vernell DeWitty. Such efforts aim to create an inclusive community where older adults can live independently and actively.
