Montgomery County will host its fifth annual Pride in the Plaza celebration on June 29 from 12 to 8 p. m. at Veterans Plaza in Silver Spring. The free event, organized with partners like Live in Your Truth and the MoCo Pride Center, aims to attract thousands with activities including a drag story hour, face painting, and health screenings. Special zones will offer attendees a place to relax and access resources such as free STI testing.

Local officials, including Council President Kate Stewart, will attend to show their support for the LGBTQIA+ community. Phillip Alexander Downie emphasized that pride events address disparities faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals and highlight the importance of allyship.
