Silver Spring, MDLocal News

Metro has implemented significant service changes to the Red Line, with trains now running every four minutes during busy weekday rush hours. Weekend hours have been extended, opening at 6 a. m. and closing at 2 a. m.

on Fridays and Saturdays. The Silver Line will operate with half of its trains running between Ashburn and Downtown Largo, along with additional trains during peak hours. Metro General Manager Randy Clarke emphasized the need to accommodate the growing ridership. The enhancements come without a fare increase, as stated by Metro Board Chair Valerie Santos, who praised the staff's budget discipline. New rail maps were also rolled out, showing changes to the Silver and Yellow lines.

Riders will notice the simplified line logos and updated station names. These adjustments precede the upcoming Better Bus Network overhaul set to launch on June 29.
