Liquidation Sale at Hotel Silver Spring Draws Local Interest

Silver Spring, MDLocal News

Hotel Silver Spring is currently hosting a liquidation sale as it permanently closed on May 29. The hotel, located at 8727 Colesville Road, had recently rebranded from DoubleTree by Hilton to Hotel Silver Spring in 2023. The decision to rebrand appears tied to the conversion of the nearby Sheraton at 8777 Georgia Ave. to a DoubleTree location. Previously, the hotel featured the popular Sergio Ristorante Italiano, which closed in 2020, indicating a decline in local dining options.

Although the hotel’s website is still operational, its social media presence has been erased, and the reservation system displays an “invalid request” error. This situation highlights the changing dynamics in the local hospitality industry amid recent closures. The liquidation sale will continue until all items are sold, drawing interest from the community. The fate of the building remains uncertain as the area adapts to these changes.
