Man charged for killing Renton business owner extradited to King County from Mexico

Seattle, WALocal News

Louie Hernandez, aged 61, has been extradited from Mexico to King County, where he faces charges of first-degree murder in connection to the death of Reyna Hernandez, a local business owner. Reyna was reported missing from Renton in February 2024, and her body was discovered in a cemetery in Mexico shortly thereafter. According to court documents, Louie allegedly shot Reyna shortly after she entered his home, then used a winch system to conceal her body in her vehicle before fleeing to Mexico. After being arrested in Mexico for drug and ammunition possession, he remained in custody until his extradition. Currently, Louie is being held in King County jail on a $5 million bail, with an arraignment scheduled for March 18.

The investigation into Reyna's disappearance began immediately after she was reported missing, with detectives suspecting foul play early on. The case highlights the complexities of cross-border investigations and the collaboration between U. S. and Mexican authorities. Reyna's tragic death underscores the ongoing issues of violence against women and the importance of community vigilance.
