The 29th Seattle Queer Film Festival (SQFF) will be held from October 10-13, 2024, with virtual screenings extending until October 20. Featuring a diverse collection of 101 films from 26 countries, the festival showcases narrative features, documentaries, and short films that reflect the richness of queer cinema. This year’s theme, "Q-thartic," aims to promote healing and connection through the emotional power of storytelling. Opening night will spotlight "PONYBOI," a film about an intersex sex worker's harrowing journey in New Jersey, produced and written by River Gallo. The film has garnered attention, being nominated for the 2024 Sundance Dramatic Grand Jury Prize.

Trent Farrington, the festival director, emphasizes the necessity of amplifying queer voices in a time of ongoing struggles for visibility and justice. In-person screenings will be held at SIFF Cinema Egyptian and AMC Pacific Place, with tickets now available for purchase. The festival promises to be a transformative experience, celebrating intersectionality and fostering a sense of community.
