Are you experienced? Wallys NW Soul Experience now serving at 23rd and Jackson

Seattle, WALocal News

Wally’s NW Soul Experience has opened at 23rd and Jackson, revitalizing the Central District with its soul food offerings. The restaurant, run by Walter “Wally” Washington, occupies the space left vacant by Catfish Corner, which closed in January 2025. This opening signifies new energy in the area, where local businesses face significant challenges, including the recent closures of other Black-owned establishments. The presence of Amazon Fresh, a major grocery store that opened in 2021, adds to the complexities of small business ownership in the neighborhood. Seattle officials are working to implement protections against food deserts as large chains continue to shut down.

Wally’s menu features soul food staples such as catfish, po boys, and lobster tails, drawing in regular customers and delivery orders. The restaurant operates from the ground floor of the Patricia K. Apartments, which includes affordable housing options. As community-focused leasing efforts continue, Wally’s aims to contribute positively to the local economy.
